All Season Solar Cooker for Resting – Sun Oven Solar Oven at Home, Playing Outside, Camping in the Wild, Backpacking – Solar Oven for Boiling, Baking, Steaming – 2 Years Warranty
The other review on here is clearly written by their competitors by looking at the name so I purchased this under the premise it actually had zero reviews. Ever since Helene hit and knocked out power long term for a friend of mine I wanted to have a method of cooking that didn’t require electricity. We have a wood stove but I like to have backups. I looked into several solar cooker options and I really liked this one in particular. It folds up for storage like several others can (the bag models) but it can be adjusted to maximize the heating capacity unlike the bag type solar cookers. I wanted something that would heat up well into the 300/400 degree range. It arrived and we promptly put it together. It had zero issues with dirt or lamination. It feels sturdy-ish but of course it’s made to be folded up and it’s cost effective. I set it up with the inner pot of my slow cooker which is black. Unfortunately today is intermittently cloudy. I added a bit of water to my pot, placed some hotdogs into the pot. I then put the oven bag provided over the pot and set the solar oven into position. I left it outside for about 45 minutes. I had placed a meat Thermometer inside to see when they were done. At the 45 minute mark the were at 120 degrees and the pot was hot to the touch. I was pretty impressed because again it’s not exactly a sunny day.The cons:The instructions are not great for assembly. We fumbled through and got it together though. The material is listed as metal at one point in the description and in another actually says what it is. So if you expect metal- don’t.The solar cooker is probably not going to fit two pots. Its another one of the reasons I sprung for this one, but I think if the pots were small MAYBE but I have 3 kids. One pot is probably all I’ll be able to fit in here.Needs a little support with adjusting to keep the bottom up. I placed a brick under it to keep the bottom lifted.Light enough the wind might send it sailing. I added a cinder block behind it, along with the weight of the pot it did fine in mild wind of up to 10mph today.ProsFolds up for storageHeats up quicklyLight and easy to move.Adjustable to catch sun at all anglesNo electricity requiredNo heating my kitchen up on hot daysCame with oven bags and a rack to help retain heat.Over all I really like it, but time will probably tell better. I do know it worked once so far and it gives me an added sense of comfort knowing that in an emergency I can still heat food.I attached a picture of how cloudy a day we are having and the meat thermometer. I’m not really sure what else you would want a picture of! Overall worth it to me.
